About Us:
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd was incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act, 2012 on the basis of the Public Enterprises Reform and Divestiture Act, Cap 98 and Electricity Act, Cap 145 respectively. UEGCL is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda. UEGCL’s key role is to – carry on the business of electric power generation and sale within Uganda or for export to neighbouring countries; build, operate and maintain Electricity Generation Plants; monitor the operation and maintenance of its Concessioned Assets – Nalubaale and Kiira Power Stations; provide Technical Support as and when required by the Government of the Republic of Uganda through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development; organize, support, encourage and maintain training facilities in technical and related fields, amongst others.
Job Summary: The Accountant Budget will take lead of the budget preparation process, participate in the preparation of draft budgets and enforce Budget discipline, ensure proper costing of materials and employee emoluments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will initiate and manage the budget process for UEGCL by organizing the budget preparation workshop and coordinating all the budget discussions during the process.
Actively participate in budget discussions and ensure that the budget figures are properly entered into the Accounting system.
Ensure preparation of the Company’s Master Budget in order to operationalize the Corporate Plan.
Prepare revised budgets by obtaining and compiling the required information for incorporation into the final budget.
Regularly monitor budget compliance and advise profit/cost center managers on a monthly basis.
Prepare draft budget performance analysis report including key ratios.
Prepare revised capital budget for the corporation.
Enforce financial discipline through budget management and control on a day-to-day basis to enable sustained viability of UEGCL.
Ensure timely requisition and accountability for GoU and Donor support funding through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must hold a business-related Upper second Bachelor’s degree e.g. BBA, BCOM, BA Econ etc
Part Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or CPA at intermediate level
At least three (3) years’ experience at similar level;
Good strategic planning and forecasting skills
Highly analytical and problem solving skills
Reasonable understanding of International financial reporting standards – IFRS.
Previous experience in using computerised accounting software
Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and high level of integrity
Age: Below 40 years
