Accountant – Kampala – Parliamentary Pension Scheme

About Us:
The Parliamentary Pension Scheme (PPS) was established by the Parliamentary Pensions Act 2007 as a Contributory Hybrid Cash Balance Retirement Benefit Plan for the Members of Parliament of Uganda and the staff of the Parliamentary Commission. The Scheme is managed by a Board of Trustees, constituted in accordance with the Act.

Job Summary: The Accountant will accurately and promptly prepare books of accounts and process payments in accordance with the policies, regulations and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze, classify and properly record financial transactions within a computerized environment;
Generate the Trial Balance periodically;
Prepare reconciliation statements for accounts, investments and contributions;
Ensure compliance with statutory provisions and reporting deadlines;
Process payroll for the Scheme;
Process payments to creditors, beneficiaries, staff and statutory agencies;
Maintain and update fixed assets register;
Facilitate the audit of financial statements;
Enforce financial and administrative policies and procedures;
Render support in the preparation of the financial budget and budgetary control;
Assist in the preparation of financial and statutory reports;
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or Business Administration (Accounting Option) from a recognized University/Institution.
Must be a member of a professional accounting body like ACCA, ICPA or CIMA.
A minimum of three years work experience in an accounting or finance function from a reputable organization.
Ability to work under minimum supervision.
Good working knowledge of computerized accounting is a must.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to promote teamwork.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Excellent analytical skills.
Have a high degree of integrity.
Good Information Technology skills.
Age limit: 28 years and above
