Job Summary:
The Job Holder is based in Kampala and has 4 subordinates, including 2 in Dar es Salaam. He/she manages the entire accounting function, including the production of EACOP’s accounts, in time and quality, under IFRS and other norms as required (tax etc.). EAST AFRICAN CRUDE OIL PIPELINE (EACOP) LTD, a company incorporated in England and Wales, EACOP Ltd is a UK company, with two branches (UG & TZ) and has 4 shareholders; TotalEnergies, UNOC TPDC and UNOC It is to build and operate an oil pipeline from Hoima (UG) to Tanga (TZ).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting
Supervise and control the Financial Accounting activities of the UG and TZ branches (and UK head office) in line with EACOP applicable accounting rules, procedures and agreements
Advise on oil & gas industry and IFRS referential & guidelines applicable to the company
Manage and coordinate the monthly/quarterly/year-end closure processes to produce reliable and timely financial statements, in close cooperation with Cost Control
Finalize the preparation of the monthly/quarterly reporting as determined by and for the Board and Shareholders
Maintain clean balance sheet accounts including auxiliary accounts, assets, stocks
Ensure that invoices are approved, processed and posted correctly and on time and that payments are made on time.
Prepare and send the cash calls for equity contributions to shareholders
Participate in the EACOP’s new ERP integration and implementation for a successful roll-out by Q2 2022
Identify abnormalities or weaknesses in the accounting processes and implement any appropriate remediation or improvement
Design and update adequate procedures to mitigate risks of fraud, ensure that accounting practices are compliant
Ensure the first level contact in external audits (statutory and financial, fiscal, shareholders, national authority), prepare responses to audit requests and contribute to assess the position towards any audit exceptions Team Development
Participate in recruiting the new Accounting team members
Supervise the daily activities through objectives and support
Provide effective leadership for team competency enhancement, career development and coaching
Support the on-going efforts to make EACOP a great place to work
Accountabilities
Contribute to the smooth and successful transition from TEAM + SAP to EACOP + new ERP
Ensure the successful ramp-up of the EACOP own accounting in line with the whole project
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal applicant must hold a University degree in Finance or a related discipline . Good knowledge of General Accounting principles, IFRS
Certified Public Accountant( a must)
At least twelve years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in Oil and Gas industry
Excellent knowledge of SAP (or equivalent ERP), Microsoft Office Suite
Organizational, rigor, integrity, anticipation, deadline focus, delegation, listening, team spirit, interpersonal skills
Highly available, autonomous and able to manage part of the team remotely
