About NFA:
The National Forestry Authority (NFA) is a Government agency established under the National Forestry and Tree Planting Act, 2003 as a corporate body responsible for sustainable development and management of Central Forest Reserves (CFRs) and provision of technical support to stakeholders in the forest sub-sector.
Job Summary: The Accounts and Administration Assistant will provide overall Financial and administrative management of the Support Centre activities inclusive of financial accounting and reporting, procurement, inventory, human resources, vehicles management, orientation, security and general administrative services, based on the NFA Operations Manuals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Keenly review suppliers’ invoices, fee notes, and related expenditure documents against supporting documents (purchase orders, goods received notes, service receipt certifications) and check for correctness of approvals and calculations.
· Maintain staff imprest details, prepare reports on imprest outstanding on a monthly basis for follow up and recovery and review personal expenditure reports to ensure advances/imprests are fully accounted for with supporting documentation.
· Prepare payment vouchers and code expenditure in line with the chart of accounts.
· Actively monitor bank account balances to ensure that there are sufficient funds available to execute planned activities.
· Review monthly returns from the field offices for completeness and accuracy and prepare journals for input to the financial ledgers.
· Process staff payroll data on monthly basis and ensuring that all payroll liabilities are accurately computed and paid.
· Reconcile Bank and control accounts and assist in generating detailed income and expenditure reports on a monthly basis.
· Offer technical support to Range, Sector and Beat offices whenever required.
· Perform any other duties as by the Range/ Plantation Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should hold a Diploma in Business Administration/studies.
· At least two years’ working experience of similar work in a busy Setting.
· Literacy in word processing and spread sheets are essential and knowledge of sun systems would be an added advantage.
