Accounts Assistant (Revenue Collection) – Kampala – Uganda National Teachers’ Union

About US:
Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) exists to promote and protect the social, intellectual, economic and professional interests of its members/teachers as a per-requisite to enhancing the status of teaching profession.

Job Summary: The incumbent will support the Kampala in the collection of Union subscription funds from District and Municipal Headquarters including compilation of subscription due from each branch and posting of all revenue and vouchers into the system.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the timely collection of Union subscription funds from Districts headquarters across the country;
In charge of the compilation of Subscription due from each branch on monthly basis;
In charge of the preparation of Subscription revenue collection per District/ municipality on a quarterly basis;
Work in liaison with district CAOs, Chief Finance Officers and Town clerks to ensure timely remittance of Union Subscription funds
Work closely with external auditors on matters concerning revenue collection, recognition and reporting;
In charge of the preparation and submission of monthly revenue collection reports to the Union Accountant;
Design possible strategies to the Union on how best Union revenue could be collected without incurring heavy expenses;
Support the Accountant to prepare monthly revenue reconciliation statements;
In charge of receiving and banking of Union collections;
Posting of all revenue and vouchers prepared to the accounting system in place.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Accountant.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The Accounts Assistant (Revenue Collection) should hold a good Bachelor’ Degree in Commerce, Business Administration with Accounting Option
Partial professional qualification in ACCA or CPA will be an added advantage.
At least three years’ experience in revenue collection field.
Computer proficiency in Quick books accounting software is a must.
Driving skills with a valid driving permit is a must
Age: Below 50 years.
