About US:
Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is a faith-based private, not-for-profit University, owned by the Episcopal Conference of Catholic Bishops of Uganda. It is set to host the World Bank Center of Excellence in Agro-ecology and livelihood Systems (ACALISE).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers and monitors the financial system in order to ensure that all sundry finances are maintained in an accurate and timely manner
Assists with preparation of the budget;
Implements financial policies and procedures;
Establishes and maintains cash controls;
Establishes, maintains and reconciles the general ledger;
Regularly monitors cash reserves and investments;
Prepares and reconciles bank statements;
Establishes and maintains supplier accounts;
Processes suppliers’ invoices;
Maintains the purchase order system;
Ensures data is entered into the accounting system;
Gives directive for payment on goods and services complying with due process;
Ensures transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerized accounting system;
Prepares revenue/ income statements,
Prepares balance sheets,
Prepares monthly financial statements;
Prepares quarterly reports and reports on variances; Assists with the annual audit,
Follows directives from time to time from the PI and Chief Finance Officer

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant for the Accounts/ Budget Officer job opportunity should hold a higher Degree in Accounting and Finance preferably with professional qualification in Accounting like ACCA/ CPA or Diploma in business related field.
At least two years of working experience in a relevant field in the INGO e.g. World Bank is an added advantage
Computer literacy i.e. experience in use of Microsoft office applications i.e. word, excel and professional accounting packages.
Ability and willingness to learn World Bank and Government Accounting Procedures
Very well organized and able to work under pressure
Excellent writing, reporting and interpersonal skills
