About US:
The Government of The Republic of Uganda has received financing from the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization (GAVI) towards the cost of the Health Systems Strengthening and immunization strengthening in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The Accounts Officer will be in charge of maintaining an up to date Advances Ledger
indicating advances issued, accountabilities received and outstanding balances
Prepare a monthly aging analysis of advances, indicating the period each advance has been outstanding
Actively following up all outstanding advances and ensuring that all long outstanding advances are reported in a timely manner to the Project Coordinator
Regular review of all advance accountabilities received and ensure that all supporting documents are appropriate, complete, valid and authentic.
Ensuring that all advances with questionable expenditure are reported to the Project Coordinator in a timely manner
Offer financial support to the Project Accountant in processing disbursement of funds to the districts and ensuring that districts that have defaulted on accountability do not receive additional advances
In charge of checking that all payments made by the GAVI program comply with the set policies, budget and the Partnership Framework Agreement
Supporting GAVI – TA reviews and any internal audits and ensuring that recommendations are implemented on time
Preparing for annual external audits, and implement any suggestions for change in the Management Letter from Audits.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should hold a first degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics or any other business related field.
Possession of part qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CA, and ICAEW will be an added advantage.
Skills in Accountancy and Bookkeeping
Excellent IT competency in excel
Excellent competency in web-based communication (e-mail)
Proven ability to organise and maintain files and related documentation
Excellent oral communication skills
Proven ability to maintain good working relationships
