Ankole Coffee Producers Co-operative Union Limited – ACPCU LTD is a Fair Trade Certified and Organic certified by CERES GmbH coffee processing and exporter organization based in Ishaka, Bushenyi Municipality located along the Mbarara Kasese high way in Uganda, East Africa purely owned by farmers and registered under the registrar of co-operatives.

Job Summary: The Assistant Internal auditor will be tasked with adding value and improving our operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes at the Union.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Carry out and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable statutory and other donor specific regulations
In charge of determining internal audit scope and develop annual plans
Keenly review systems of internal controls at ACPCU to ensure that they are sound and functional at all times
The jobholder will document findings and prepare and present reports that reflect audit’s results to management
Conduct the periodic review of the Union operations including procurement, storage and shipment of coffee to ensure that high levels of accountability and value for money is achieved
Carry out periodic stock counts of coffee in Union stores and reconcile with stock records
Review ACPCU periodic financial systems, records and reports for accuracy and completeness
Support member societies by carrying out periodic inspection of records to ensure compliance with the law and provisions of certifying member organizations
Act as an objective source of independent advice to ACPCU management regarding compliance with statutory requirements
Identify loopholes in systems of internal control and recommend risk mitigation measures and cost savings
Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum
Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s implementation of previous audit
Perform any other duties or special investigations as requested by management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should hold a B.Com or BBA degree Bsc degree in Accounting or Finance
Part qualification in ACCA or CPA is an added advantage
Proven working experience as accountant or Internal Auditor especially in a food processing export business/commercial environment
The jobholder should possess advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations
High degree of numeracy and attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
Sound independent judgment
The ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of accounting and audit procedures and a sound judgment.
Knowledge of local language is an added advantage
