Job Summary: The UNICEF Finance Assistant performs a variety of tasks on VAT claims and VISION related transactions such as data information gathering, input and manipulation, report generation and dissemination using VISION, ensuring that VISIONS related transactions are acted upon, reports generated as may be necessary, effective and efficient solutions are provided, and incidents and queries on the system appropriately addressed. The incumbent will also be responsible for communication with user sections on VISION related transactions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Carry out monthly submission of VAT to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) including preparation of all documents required for the submission. Monitor outstanding VAT for refund by URA; follow up with suppliers/vendors on VAT payment to URA; and liaising with URA officials on refund of VAT submitted. Prepares recurring reports on VAT receivable account, noting and clarifying problems
Scrutinize and review DCT transaction (payments and liquidations) ensuring all supporting documentation and relevant information provided for processing transactions in VISION are in compliance with rules, regulations and procedures. Process DCT related transactions in VISION using the correct t-codes and related work processes accurately and timely in line with established SOPs
Carry out weekly and monthly reconciliation of open items in VISION for VAT receivable, DCTs, prepayments and other receivables
The Finance Assistant will record all deposits in a timely and accurate manner in Vision
Performs any other duties, as required by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the United Nations UNICEF Finance Assistant vacancy should have completed secondary education. Additional relevant courses in Business Administration or Accounting at diploma or university level is an asset.
At least six years’ office experience, including record-keeping and processing of information.
Proven ability to operate software or a computer packages used to maintain accounts is required.
Fluency in English is required.
