Job Summary:
The Finance Assistant will support the Finance team in the areas cash management, records management and policy enhancement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that financial documents are filed to date at all times, orderly, well kept, and readily available for reference and audit.
Conduct scanning and electronic archiving of finance documents. Update finance internal systems data.
Maintain the petty cash ledger; ensure smooth running of cash disbursement and timely receipt of accountabilities within stipulated cash hours as well as policy duration.
Review staff expense accountability submissions and organize all accountability documentation, submitting to the Finance Officer for review on a weekly basis.
Monitor and update individual staff expense accounts as per Samaritan’s Purse guidelines.
Report any practice that is contrary to financial procedures to the Finance Officer or Finance Manager.
Propose changes or improvements to financial systems/policies/practices to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost-savings.
Provide support to staff to ensure adherence to financial processes and procedures.
Conduct all activities in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, in coordination with team members, other departments and in line with SPUG, government and donor policies and best practices.
Participate in morning devotions and maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, project stakeholders, project beneficiaries, and the general public.
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal applicant must agree with and uphold the mission and objectives of the organization.
Must hold a Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration majoring in accounting.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance and/or any level of CPA or ACCA will be an advantage.
At least two years of professional experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
Proactive, adaptable and results-oriented; good critical thinking and problem solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Trustworthy, with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. A generous and serving spirit.
