Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC), home of three Nobel laureates, is an independent, non-profit research institution dedicated to the development and advancement of biomedical research to eliminate cancer and other potentially fatal diseases. Recognized internationally for its pioneering work in bone-marrow transplantation, the Center’s five scientific divisions collaborate to form a unique environment for conducting basic and applied science.

About HCRI:
The Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI)/Hutchinson Center Cancer Alliance is a collaborative venture to establish a state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility located in Kampala, Uganda. The hope of this joint effort between the Hutchinson Center and the Uganda Cancer Institute is the development of new low-cost prevention and treatment strategies for ameliorating the high burden of infection-related cancers. Clinicians and scientists will work together to enhance patient access to care, diagnosis and research-based treatment. The UCI/Hutchinson Center Cancer Alliance seeks to develop effective prevention and treatment strategies for infection-associated cancers to benefit the millions of people in Uganda, the United States, and worldwide who suffer from these malignancies. The UCI is the sole cancer treatment and training facility in Uganda, a country with a population of 32 million people. The Seattle-based operations of the Alliance are governed by the Global Oncology (GO) program at the Fred Hutch.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Coordinator will be responsible for;
Completes monthly reconciliations including, but not limited to, bank accounts, cash advances, cash balances, etc.
Updates and maintains complete and orderly fiscal files that are audit-ready at all times.
Supports the Fiscal Manager and Seattle-based Finance Team with the annual audit process as required.
Ensures that proper accountabilities/back-up documentation is in place for all transactions.
Ensures that proper approvals are in place for all transactions.
Ensures that transactions are prepared on a weekly basis for the Fiscal Manager to enter into the financial system.
Supports the Fiscal Manager in meeting all deadlines, including those for each monthly close cycle.
Regularly reviews invoices for accuracy and legitimacy and troubleshoots payment issues with vendors.
Expeditiously follows all organizational fiscal policies and processes.
Makes withdrawals, deposits, and conducts other organizational business at the bank, as needed.
Scan and upload complete accounting records to the organization’s online system by the due dates provided.
Perform any other related functions as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Finance Coordinator vacancy should hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area.
At least three years working experience in a similar position in a busy organization.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Possess excellent computer and word processing skills and proficiency with a variety of software packages including Skype, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
Legally authorized to work in the country of Uganda (without sponsorship).
