Financial Services Officer – Kampala – Uganda Cooperatives Savings and Credit Union Limited

About US:
Uganda Cooperatives Savings and Credit Union Limited (UCSCU) is the national apex organization for Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOs) in Uganda. It is registered under the Uganda Cooperative Societies Statute 1991 and the Uganda Cooperative Regulations 1992.

Job Summary: The Financial Services Officer will be tasked with administering the Union’s regional Office in line with the set policies and strategic plan, undertake and ensure UCSCU’s presence in the field and financial stability commensurate with the best interest of the members and employees.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide premier customer services as the first line of service for UCSCU’s clients
Identify SACCOs in need of technical assistance and communicate to the Regional Manager
Facilitate training of SACCOs
Ensure that SACCOs meet their Union obligation timely.
Market UCSCU products and services
Mobilise SACCOs to save and or invest in Central Finance Facility
Mobilise SACCOs to participate in UCSCU trainings, forums, and other technical services offerings
Identify and assess SACCOs for CFF
Advise management on salient issues facing SACCO development and Union business
Take part in the preparation and effective implementation of regional work plan and budgets
Assist in the establishment of SACCOs and strengthen them in service provision to their members
Monitor SACCO activities
Promotion of SACCOs and educating potential clients
Participate in the development of training materials for educating SACCos
Provide spot checks and monitoring of all SACCOs and data collection
Work with other stake holders to ensure that SACCOs are in compliance with the Co-operative ACT, regulations, By-laws, policies, resolutions and performance standards set by the Union and or industry
Any other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should have hold an internationally recognised professional accounting certification and / or be a member of auditing bodies (ICPA, CIA, CCA, etc)
Possession of a post graduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage
At least two years’ experience in SACCO industry while working with a reputable financial institution or preferably Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (SACCO) or private commercial organisation
