Uganda Post Limited (Posta Uganda) is a wholly-owned government company which is the leading provider of a wide range of postal, logistical, IT and financial services in Uganda with international links to all major postal administrations worldwide.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The Manager, Finance will oversee UPL’s accounting and reporting operations
· Periodically review operating procedures and ensure compliance to internal control systems and FRS/IAS
· The incumbent will oversee management of fixed assets, payroll and budgeting
· Establish and maintain an effective debtors management system
· Keenly review and ensure that all revenues have been recognized in the system.
· Manage revenue reconciliation and ensure that actual stock and cash balances are updated
· Work closely with external and internal auditors in carrying out audits and prepare relevant schedules for auditors
· Coordinate the implementation of Audit recommendation (Internal and External)
· Review and certify all payment vouchers ensuring that they are properly supported and are charged against correct account codes
· Prepare quarterly and annual comprehensive financial statements including: trial balance, Statement of financial Position (Balance Sheet), Statement of profit and loss and other comprehensive income (Income statement), Statement of changes in equity, Statement of cash flows and Notes to the account
· Supervise, train, develop and appraise staff in the section
· Regularly review and monitor filing systems including finance section of the archives
· Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Accounting or Finance. Also, hold a Masters in Finance/Accounting or a professional qualification CPA/ACCA
· At least five years’ experience in Finance or Accounting, two (2) of which must have been at managerial level in a busy and reputable Organization
· Working knowledge of computerized accounting packages
· Excellent analytical and report writing skills
· Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
· Good people management skills
· Complete knowledge of current accounting best practices and principles
