Programme Funding Manager – Kampala – Send a Cow UK

About US:
Send a Cow Uganda is a Christian development organisation that has a full programme team based in Kampala, Uganda and more than 26 years’ experience of delivering integrated agricultural development projects.

Job Summary: The Programme Funding Manager (PFM) will be responsible for contract management for all projects. Institutional and in-country sources of funding have been identified as major areas of potential growth for SAC, and the PFM will develop and implement a fundraising strategy for increasing funding from these donors for current and new projects in Uganda through networking, opportunity identification and preparation of successful budgets and proposals. They will also be responsible for networking with donors and partners in Uganda (especially Kampala) to open up new funding opportunities on behalf of all SAC country programmes, including Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing a clear understanding of SACU’s work in Uganda and Africa, and the context and policy framework within which it works.
Responsible for building and maintaining networks with new contacts, to maintain excellent relationships with donors, and to develop positive partnerships with other organisations for project implementation and joint funding bids.
In charge of developing an understanding of the wider aims, strategic objectives and policies of donors and government.
Carry out prospect research into potential donors and partners to identify new funding opportunities for SACU in Uganda and other countries.
Work closely with SACU and SAC Group staff, develop excellent funding applications that include clear logical frameworks, well written narrative proposals and full cost recovery budgets.
Render support in the management of new and on-going grant contracts, fulfilling donor requirements in a timely manner, including preparation of narrative and financial reports and responding to donor queries as appropriate.
Keep up to date files and records of all programme funding activities, including updating the SAC Project system (based on the Salesforce platform) with organisations, contacts, meetings, proposals, donor response, contracts and reports.
Maintain good communication with staff across the organisation and in particular with the Head of Programme Funding, Programme Funding Co-ordinator, Programme Funding Officers, International Programme staff and other fundraising teams. Participate in Programme Funding and Funding Forum teleconferences.
Steer and/or support the development of multi-country funding raising proposals for SAC’s work in Africa.
Provide SAC UK Communications, Fundraising and Partnership teams with programme updates, stories and photographs as requested. Respond to requests for information and general inquiries as necessary.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Send a Cow Programme Funding Manager career placement should hold a Master’s Degree
Past experience of managing large funding contracts from donors
Experience of developing funding proposals for institutional and other donors.
Significant experience of preparing and reporting against financial budgets
Past experience of networking with donors and partners
Experience in the use of data management systems and Microsoft Excel and word
Experience of developing documents that demonstrate logical thinking and are interesting to read.
Past experience of Salesforce, or similar databases including data entry and creating reports.
Previous experience in the use of Power-point for presentations
Previous experience in the development and use of logical frameworks for project planning
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work co-operatively in a team
Possess the ability to work to meet tight deadlines
Highly organised and able to prioritise workloads
Self-confident and personable
Numerate and literate
Results orientated
Excellent IT skills
Ability to research, collate and summarise information from a wide range of sources
