About UBA:
The Uganda Bankers Association was founded in 1981 as an umbrella body of commercial banks in Uganda. 25 commercial banks and one development bank comprise the UBA membership. Commercial banks are licensed and regulated by Bank of Uganda under the Financial Institutions Act 2004. UBA’s role among other things includes the promotion, protection, representation and development of the professional and business interests of members. This also includes fostering orderly conditions within the Banking industry subject to the laws prevailing at any time in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Project Manager is mainly responsible for the coordination and delivery of the shared technology platform for Agent Banking. The Project Manager will work in liaison with the Bank Steering Committee Teams, Consultant/ Quality Assurance Advisor and Technology Vendor to;
Develop project plans, work schedules and methods for measuring results.
Organize and manage all phases of the project to ensure on-time completion, (see table below)
Assemble and coordinate project team members; assign individual responsibilities.
Carry out all necessary meetings to facilitate project requirements.
Plan and oversee project communications, Training etc.
Ensure all relevant documentation is in place through the project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Gather, analyse and harmonize system requirements from all member banks.
Coordinate resources required and timetables therein with member banks.
Coordinate internal project resources and third parties/ vendors for the flawless delivery of the project.
Ensure disaster recovery, information security and control structures and back-up procedures are in place.
Resolve cross-functional issues at project level.
Manage project scope and change control and escalate issues where necessary.
Oversee the post implementation phase to manage any defects that may arise after the go live which is a prerequisite for Project closure.
Manage the relationship with UBA/Member Banks/Platform Vendor.
Prepare and submit status reports to the project sponsor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should have an academic background preferably in the fields of ICT/ computer science or E-Banking.
Proven working experience as a project manager in either an MNO Mobile Money project OR E-Banking project/ Bank IT project.
Practical experience in delivering Agency Banking will count significantly.
Knowledge and practice of PMP/PRINCE II certification will be a plus.
Working knowledge of project management.

Make Decisions: Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the project.

Plan: Determine strategies to move the project forward, set goals, create and implement actions plans, and evaluate the process and results.
Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
Keen attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
