Job Description
Market Support facilitator work is to stimulate markets to evolve in a way that increasingly involves and benefits both the producers and the businesses.
The Job with facilitate the development commodity value chains and linkages between the producers and consumers. Support development community markets and linkages between private sector actors and all other actors.
In a community-led approach, the facilitator plays a key role in all phases: learning with and about the community; the community-led planning regarding which harm(s)to prevent and respond to; designing and implementing an appropriate community action; and evaluating the community-led action.
Key duties and responsibilities
• Conduct research to analyze refugee and host community business behavior (e.g.
• purchasing habits, trends and preferences)
• Design and implement successful marketing campaigns
• Participate in different agro-value chains coordination activities like those for Horticulture, Apiary promotion, Goat rearing, Pig rearing, Rabbit rearing, Cereal farmer, Cassava and maize processing, Animal feed mixer,
Participate in different tourism and hospitality coordination activities to promote Baking and catering, Housekeeping international standards, International dishes, Leather and shoe making.
• Establish and regularly up-date the Refugee job information network (REJOIN) for prospective employers and employees
• Organize trainings for marketable products like Soap marketing, Barber, Solar technician, Motorcycle mechanics and many other SMEs for the targeted groups, and liaise graduates to potential employees or for starter-capital
• With the support of the livelihoods Officer organize regular trainings in
Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Financial literacy, Leadership, Team building, Problem Solving, Conflict Management, Customer service, Communication, Digital literacy/computer skills
• Establish database of different value chain actors including producers, processors, aggregators, transporters, and consumers of different agricultural and non-agricultural goods and services
• Track progress with Marketing Managers and/or Marketing Specialists
• Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing sales data for different value chains
• Collaborate with the design department to produce promotional materials
• Craft clear product marketing strategies and sensitize beneficiaries on proposed business adjustments
• Organize promotional activities for new products/services
• Prepare (monthly, quarterly and annual) forecasts
• Participate in the drafting of project work plans, writing of proposals that support agriculture market development
Participate the joint meeting with stakeholders and other CSOs dealing in food systems and Nutritional security.
• Prepare clear and concise reports in line with the requirements of the organization and financing partners.
• Support HFU staff and volunteers engaged in Programme/ project livelihoods in execution of all agriculture market development schemes, extension and farmers training, conducting demonstrations/trials
• Participate in Social Behavioral Change and Communication (SBCC) activities especially for Livelihoods related messages
• Guarantee cost effective logistics operations
• Any other duties as assigned by management authorities.

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and zero tolerance to fraud) standards within Hunger Fighters Uganda and amongst beneficiaries served.

• As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of Hunger Fighters Uganda’s and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Technical/Functional
• Practical experience on designing and facilitating participative processes for market analysis and local economic development planning;
• Substantive knowledge and understanding of methodologies for gendersensitive value chain identification and analysis, market analysis and stakeholder mapping in the agriculture and/or livestock sector;
• Ability to work with local government, private sector, partners and community stakeholders, including the ability to facilitate understanding between groups with different perspectives and interests, facilitate linkages and build strong and supportive working relationships a wide range of stakeholders;
• Experience in the design and delivery of capacity building activities including training, mentoring and on-the job support;
• Understanding and experience of the promotion of women’s economic participation and empowerment, especially in the refuge and host community context;
• Knowledge and experience of investment planning including good understanding of private sector perspectives and approaches to facilitate the mobilization of private sector investment to support local economic development;
• Experience in writing financial and technical reports, manuals and other communication products;
• Ability to manage activities and timelines effectively – consistently ensuring timelines and quality of project work carried out.
• Ability to facilitate teams and encourage collaborative teamwork, experience sharing, effective problem solving and conflict resolution;
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, understanding its needs and support it accordingly;
• Ability to identify and propose innovative solutions and new approaches to achieve the desired outcomes.
Qualification
• A minimum of 3 years work experience (with Bachelor’s Degree) or 3 years’ Post-graduate training in rural market development, agriculture, livestock, agribusiness, business development or other relevant field is an added advantage
• Proven experience in the design and implementation of market analysis and development processes using participatory approaches involving diverse local stakeholders;
• Experience in the design and delivery of awareness raising and capacity building initiatives with local government, private sector and community stakeholders including training, mentoring and on-the job support;
• Experience in the promotion and support of women’s economic participation and empowerment, especially in the refugee and host community context;
• Experience in writing financial and technical reports, in monitoring and evaluation of development programmes.
Language Requirements
• Fluency in both written and spoken English, Kiswahili, Kinyabwisha and knowledge of any other local languages spoken in the refugee and host communities would be an advantage.
