Job Summary: The Public Relations and Marketing Officer will implement the marketing and public relations policies and strategies of the University and support the linkage between the University, the public and other organizations with the aim of projecting the image of the University positively.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The jobholder will prepare and implement public relations plan and programmes which meet and promote the image of the University.
Make arrangements and maintain positive media relations through press conferences, articles, press releases, radio and T.V programmes.
Actively facilitate and promote the flow and dissemination of information within the University.
Render support in guiding the public and clients on how, where and when to obtain the University services.
Provide support in coordinating the organization and facilitation arrangements of all the University’s official and social functions.
Coordinate advertising all the University programmes.
Initiate programmes and activities that will enhance a better understanding of the internal operations of the University by all members of the University community.
Guide the Vice Chancellor on press issues and through the press, promote and protect the image of the University.
Build beneficial linkages with organizations in aspects relevant to the achievement of the University’s mission.
Actively promote good public relations by the University staff dealing or interacting directly with its public.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Public relations plans and programmes prepared and implemented.
Official visitors received.
Positive media relations maintained.
Dissemination of information facilitated and improved.
University official functions organized.
University programmes advertised.
University image promoted ad protected.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate must hold a Masters’ degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or related field from a recognized University/Institution.
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field from a recognized University/Institution.
A minimum of three years’ experience in Public Relations and Marketing related duties in a reputable Public or Private Organization.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Computer literacy skills
Age: Below 55 Years
