• Preferably with some hands on experience on analytical equipment such as UV-VIS, HPLC, GC-MS, AAS, ICP-MS, etc.
Job Purpose
• To perform chemistry analysis and a range of activities which form part of the quality system in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Duties and Essential Job Functions
• Carry out all tests using approved methods on different sample matrices.
• Follow prescribed quality controls of test procedures and fill out necessary control forms; initiate corrective actions and preventive measures.
Participate in proficiency tests for competence monitoring.
Review, modify, verify/or validate new procedures/methods coming into use or those that are already in use.
• Use worksheets to present results and complete the appropriate paper work, signing off all the work done.
• Verify equipment daily and carry out calibration following the calibration plan.
• Ensure safe storage of reference materials, reagents and solvents used in the department.
• Use equipment according to the instructions stipulated by the manufacturer or by internal procedures available in the laboratory and report all mal-functioning of equipment to your supervisor.
Comply with Health, Safety and Environment protocols in the Laboratory in the areas of waste management, sample handling, equipment handling, etc.
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Key Performance Indicators
• Compliance to set TAT for all parameters.
• Number of methods validated.
• At least 85% overall annual performance in proficiency tests for the department.
• 100% compliance to testing SOPs.
• Quality and reliable results.
• 100% compliance for the verification and calibration of equipment as per the monthly/yearly calibration plan.

Internal: Head of Chemistry, Analysts.
External:
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in: Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Science Technology – Chemistry & Biochemistry or any other related field
Details of experience
• 2-5 years’ experience in a similar laboratory setting.
