Directors Assistant – Jinja – Irise International

About US:
Irise International is a hybrid organisation working to develop and implement a sustainable solution to Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM). Our charity arm develops resources and delivers training on menstrual health and hygiene, reproductive health and gender roles. Our social enterprise manufactures and sells affordable sanitary products through establishing local supply. We work closely with multiple partners to integrate menstrual hygiene into existing work and achieve long term change.

Job Summary: The Directors Assistant will work under the supervision of the Director and sometimes the Head of Operations to support a wide range of activities. Their time will be roughly split between supporting the organisation’s Fundraising and Communications and the Monitoring and Evaluation work in Uganda but will also include other tasks as directed by their supervisor including administrative work like writing newsletters and attending relevant meetings and events.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Work under the supervision of the Director to develop a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan using the organisation’s existing log frame. This will involve integrating monitoring and evaluation into everyday project activities through developing simple tools and a data collection system, training the team and supervising implementation.
Write Irise’s quarterly newsletter and other communication materials as required.
Work in liaison with the Director to identify funding opportunities and write grant applications.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should be Graduate with a year’s professional working experience
Ability to demonstrate the ability to effectively work independently
Prior experience living and/or working in East Africa
This is an ideal role for a young professional with some experience of international development and an interest in gaining a wide range of experience of the different activities of a small social enterprise and charity.
The individuals should have leadership potential able to take initiative and work independently will be well suited to this role.
Prior experience of writing funding applications is desired
Previous experience in research or monitoring and evaluation is desired
Prior experience working for a small charity or social enterprise

Terms and Conditions:
Allowance of £200/month
