About USAID Project:
TechnoServe (TNS) will work in partnership with the Uganda Cooperative Alliance after being recently awarded a grant to implement the Feed the Future – Producer Organizations Activity. The USAID funded Feed the Future Uganda Producer Organizations Activity seeks to strengthen the Governance, management and service delivery capacity of Producer Organizations (POs) with the goal of helping to establish durable and enduring institutions that are able to plan, mobilize resources, and deliver services that meet the evolving needs of their members in a rapidly changing competitive environment. To achieve this vision, the activity will harness the potential of Uganda’s secondary POs in 12 of the Feed the Future focus districts in Uganda to serve as critical agents of change in equipping member POs with the skills, knowledge, and linkages needed to develop into sustainable businesses that meet the demands of their farmers.
Job Summary: The incumbent will drive the program vehicles for TNS related business, ensure safety, appropriate usage, maintenance of vehicles and compliance with organizational procedures and national traffic laws during implementation of program work. The job will entail various field travels in various areas of Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The incumbent will the assigned drive TechnoServe (TNS) vehicle to all approved destinations while maintaining care and ensuring the safety of the passengers and the organization vehicle;
· Ensuring that all TechnoServe vehicles are in good running condition including car washing, maintenance and repairs;
· Appropriately check/ verify that all vehicle repair proposals are correct and make appropriate recommendations;
· The job holder will ensure that the assigned vehicle is up to date with insurance, and other relevant regulations according to the requirements of the Traffic Act in Uganda;
· Regularly report any car accident to the nearest police station, or nearest local authority of the area and keep the field / Kampala office informed of such incidents;
· Ensure that the vehicles daily log sheets are filled correctly prior to -departure and after every trip, make sure that vehicle movement authorization is obtained from the relevant person for every movement;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicants for the Driver jobs should have completed either “O” and / or “A” Levels with a certificate. Possession of a certificate course (mechanical logistics, business or customer care) or a diploma is an added advantage.
· At least five years’ driving experience with INGO or development agencies.
· Ability to be hands on and examine and assess car repairs including the following attributes:
· Possession of a clean and current valid driving license;
· High levels of personal integrity required;
· Multi-tasking, passionate and self-driven.
