About GIZ EnDev:
Energising Development (EnDev) is a global multi-donor partnership implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) that facilitates access to modern energy services in 24 countries worldwide. In Uganda, EnDev, under the Promotion of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (PREEEP) cooperates closely with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD). EnDev Uganda facilitates access to modern energy services through market development with the private sector for improved cook stoves (ICS) and solar PV products. In its ICS programme component, EnDev Uganda supports Ugandan ICS companies to increase their production capacity, improve their product and service quality as well as competitiveness and marketability.

Job Summary: The Field Assistant will be supporting the implementation of field work steered by the EnDev Uganda regional office. The incumbent will also support the Technical Officer regarding administrative, logistical and accountability tasks. He / she will also be responsible for conducting monitoring and verification activities as well as surveys and data analyses.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare, carry out and postprocess monitoring& verification, surveys and field work:
Offer support in the preparation and independently carries out monitoring and verification exercises as well as surveys in line with EnDev requirements and standards
Assists in preparation and independently carries out other field work including mobilization, sensitization, consultative meetings, trainings etc. for local communities
Assists in carrying out the administrative, logistical and accountability related duties necessary for performing the above-named tasks
Assists with data analysis, documentation, reporting and filing
Knowledge Management: Updates the Technical Officer about ongoing and planned monitoring and verification, survey and field work activities
Other duties/additional tasks: The field assistant performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in development studies, sociology or similar field
Sound knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
A minimum of two years of professional experience in a comparable area
Broad knowledge and understanding of the topic of stove access for rural communities
Sound experience in working with local communities
Prior working experience with GIZ preferably or a similar organisation (as employee or consultant) is an added advantage
Familiarity with quantitative ICS related monitoring and verification procedures is an added advantage
Good working knowledge of MS Office (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
Very good English language skills and fluent Luo language skills (Langi or Acholi)
Ability to work very precisely
Willingness to adopt new skills as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
