Job Description
Southern and Eastern Africa Trade Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) Uganda is a leading pan-African research and advocacy Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) championing an array of trade, fiscal and development related issues.
SEATINI has over 25 years’ experience in promoting pro development trade, fiscal and investment policies, practices and rules at all levels.
Our Vision is “A Strong and Confident Africa in World Trade”.
Our Mission is “To strengthen stakeholders’ capacity to influence trade, fiscal and investment related policies and processes for sustained equitable development and improved livelihoods in Uganda and the East African region”.
Through raising awareness, building stakeholders’ capacity and joint advocacy, public interest litigation, networking and alliance building, information generation and sharing, we stimulate dialogue between stakeholders and government and promote indigenous alternatives for improved livelihoods and sustainable development.
Currently, SEATINI Uganda is operating under a five-year Strategic Plan (2021 -2025) under the theme; “Promoting Social Justice; Haki Ya Jamii”. The overall goal of this Strategic Plan is “Inclusive and equitable trade, fiscal and related policies and processes at subnational, national, regional and global levels for sustainable economic development, social justice and improved livelihoods in Uganda and the EAC”. Under the Strategic Plan for 2021-2025, SEATINI Uganda has prioritized three
thematic areas: Trade, Investment and Development; Financing for Development and: Building Alternatives for Social and Economic Justice.

Our Graduate Trainee Program
SEATINI’s Graduate Trainee programme offers valuable skills and on-the job experience. The aim of our Graduate Trainee programme is to contribute to a strong next generation of critical thinkers, intellectuals, policy analysts, researchers and leaders, by providing them exposure and the opportunity to make their contributions to towards the quest for social justice; ‘‘Haki Ya Jamii’’ at all levels.
The program is designed to give fresh graduates challenging work assignments, developmental feedback, and exposure to roles including and not limited to research, policy analysis and advocacy.
The program combines hands-on experience with formal performance feedback to help graduates translate academic knowledge into practical skills and knowledge.

Eligibility and Ideal Profile:
In order to be considered eligible for SEATINI Graduate Trainee Programme, the applicant must meet all the following criteria:
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Development Studies, Economics, Bachelor of Information Technology, Multimedia and interactive design or related fields, with strong academic background
• Be a Ugandan citizen
• Aged between 20-25 years and below at the time of application
• Be proficient in both written and spoken English with good communication skills is essential.
• Poses soft skills competencies including; Problem-solving, Communication, Teamwork, Creativity and Interpersonal skills.
Applicants who do not meet the above criteria will not be considered.

Compensation
These are unpaid graduate trainee opportunities. However, lunch and transport allowance are provided. Logistical support will be provided on all work-related assignments.

Duration
The Graduate Trainees are expected to be available for a maximum period of 6 months.
