Institute Librarian – Kampala – Insurance Institute of Uganda

About US:
The Insurance Institute of Uganda (IIU) is the training arm of the Insurance Industry in Uganda. It is also the representative insurance professional body under the Law. IIU is licensed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) as a Private Tertiary Institution.

Job Summary: The Institute Librarian will provide support in the management and planning of library services through extensive knowledge in management of online databases.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
In charge of preparing and reviewing Library strategic plans and annual budgets
Develop, manage and maintain Library systems to ensure access meets teaching and research needs in line with strategic directions of the Library
Develop, review and manage Institute library resources in accordance with the teaching and research needs of the Institute
Ensure that the membership accesses our library resources in real time via the web
Carry out effective planning and management of the library and its staff to work with external organizations in line with the Institute’s strategic direction
Evaluate and monitor library staff performance periodically as per the IIU HR manual
Prepare and submit library quarterly reports to the CEO

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should mainly hold a Bachelor’s degree in Librarianship and Information Science (BLIS) from a recognized University.
Working knowledge of library information systems software will be an added advantage
A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar position.
