Chemonics is implementing the Feed the Future Uganda Commodity Production and Marketing (CPM) Activity. CPM is implemented through a five-year, USAID-funded contract that began in March 2013. CPM increases the wealth and long-term prosperity of rural families in 34 Feed the Future focus districts by using innovative methods to increase the quantity and quality of beans, coffee and maize that they are able to produce and sell.
Job Summary: The Knowledge Management Assistant will be tasked with the creation of a central repository of information for knowledge management through collection, capture, organization, maintenance and retrieval of CPM content in print, electronic and online and other related work that contributes to our overall communications and learning strategy. The Knowledge Management Assistant will be responsible for setting up a central repository of information for knowledge management, support staff-in collecting, organizing and retrieval of content in print, electronic and online formats, develop and maintain special indexing systems and files for special collections, provide effective access to information and resources through up to-date database management and web technology. The incumbent also supports the Communications Manager in sourcing, editing of content for publishing/sharing research, maintain and update media lists and stakeholder contacts and assist with other communications tasks as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the USAID Knowledge Management Assistant career vacancy should hold a Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, in communication, journalism, business/ marketing, information/library science, international development or relevant field.
At least three to four years of relevant work experience with Chemonics or an international organization, preferably in a position dealing with writing/editing for print and online (web) delivery, communications, business or project development, information management, and client-customer service.
Proven ability to provide input to or write complicated proposal or report section ability to communicate orally, in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner
Advanced skills in computer and web applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, HTML, web editors (e.g. Frontpage, Notepad), graphics, mixed media, and database administration.
Initiative, organizational and record-keeping skills, follow-through, and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balance demands and priorities, deliver services on short notice or timely basis, and meet deadlines.
