The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent, humanitarian organization working on all aspects of the refugee cause in more than 36 countries throughout the world. The aim of DRC is to protect refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) against persecution and to promote durable solutions to the problems of forced migration, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC works in accordance with the UN Conventions on Refugees and the Code of Conduct for the ICRC and NGOs in Disaster Relief.

Job Summary: The Livelihood and Gender Assistant is primarily responsible for the day to day field operations of the EU Trust Fund project in the beneficiary communities as outlined by the Livelihood / Gender Officer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordination / Representation:
Build formidable relationships with field level structures, authorities and community leaders as well as field level private and other stakeholders
Work in liaison with the Livelihoods/Gender Officer attend and represent the interest of EUTF and DRC in the areas of your responsibility
Actively coordinate with the field staff of other EUTF projects, DRC sectors and other organizations.
Actively participate in the regular sector meetings and in-house coordination meetings.
Project Implementation and Reporting:
Effectively implement the day to day activities according to the EUTF plan and technical standards of the sector.
Actively contribute to innovative project implementation and through field experience and information sharing
Carry out beneficiary trainings with relevant stakeholders.
Actively take part in quality data collection and timely reporting
Actively mobilize beneficiaries
Keenly monitor and document EUTF and DRC’s livelihood activities
Prepare reports to contribute to the weekly, monthly and other reports
Ensure the delivery of items and others services to beneficiaries
Staff development and management:
Mentor and supervise field based volunteers and community participants.
Provide technical and programmatic leadership for the livelihoods outreach workers and community based mechanisms in Yumbe area as needed.
Develop staff performance measurement and targets and appraise them based on the set targets.
Uphold DRC’s code of conduct and principles of accountability

Logistics /Finance:
Assist the Livelihoods Officer to monitor financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow ups.
Plan and coordinate proactively logistics and movements for project interventions.
Follow up all DRC Procedures on Security, Finance, Logistics, HR and Administration.
Participate in the facilitation of order requests
Ensure effective use of assigned resources, materials and assets.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Livelihood and Gender Assistant career placement must hold a Degree in Agro-business Management, Enterprise Management, business development or other related field.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of rural poverty, vulnerability issues, targeting mechanisms and resilience.
One year of experience in a similar position.
Excellent knowledge in preparing major international donor reports.
Knowledge and experience of working with Echo, EU donors.
Possess strong analytical and conceptual skills.
Possession of a valid motorbike riding permit with at least one year of rough road riding experience.
Proven commitment to accountable practices.
Knowledge of working in challenging environments.
Proven ability to manage large varied workloads and deal constructively with stress and periods with long hours.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work with limited supervision
Proactive, stable and robust character and a good team player.
Excellent communication skills, calm and a good sense of humour.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations at all levels.
Fluent in written and spoken English and at least one local (Yumbe) language.
