Plant Operator – Kampala – Uganda National Roads Authority

About UNRA:
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament; The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on 1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.

Job Summary: The Plant Operator will be responsible for operating plant or equipment including daily checks of plant and equipment, reporting damage or malfunction and ensuring security of the equipment. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for accounting for fuel and lubricants issued and maintaining and updating the logbook at all times.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct the daily assessment of plant or equipment using the UNRA standard checklist in line with procedure;
Regularly report damage or malfunction of plant or equipment in line with UNRA operating procedures;
Maintain cleanliness of the plant and equipment in line with OHSA guidelines and standards;
Maintain safe custody of the plant or equipment at the station in line with UNRA security guidelines;
Prepare and submit accountability reports for fuel and lubricants issued periodically;
Maintain and update UNRA station equipment and plant logbook.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Mechanical Supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant for the UNRA Plant Operator job vacancy should hold an Ordinary Level Certificate of Education or in any other relevant field.
Valid driving permit is a must.
At least two years’ experience in operating plant or equipment in road works.
High degree of integrity;
Excellent track record of outstanding performance;
Ability to work as part of a team;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Excellent interpersonal, particularly staff/management relation skills
Ability to deliver accurate results in a timely manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
