Background
DRC is an International non-governmental organisation, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world.
In Uganda, DRC assists the refugees from neighbouring countries mainly DR Congo and South Sudan in the South West, West and West Nile region of the country. DRC’s assistance to refugees have been both emergency assistance to address the short term influxes from the neighbouring countries as well as to address the sustainable solutions for the refugees. DRC is also the lead of a Consortium (Save the Children, ZOA, and CEFORD) for the implementation of an EU Trust Fund project in the refugee settlements in West Nile (Rhino camps, Adjumani and Kiryandongo settlements).
Purpose
The Program Assistant is responsible to assist in M&E and Program Development in the country program. The Program Assistant is also responsible for communication and visibility of projects in the Uganda country program.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation
1. Be responsible for developing and implementing impact monitoring plan for the delegated projects in Uganda, in coordination with the Head of Program, Program Managers and Project Managers/coordinators.
2. Influence program development in Uganda with timely feedback based on monitoring and impact reports.
3. Plan and develop detailed data collection tools, ensure that data collection is scientific, and defendable.
4. Produce impact monitoring reports for DRC’s internal use as well as for Donor reporting.
5. Liaise and coordinate with the DRC/DDG monitoring and coordination focal point in the HQs and the Head of Program Development to ensure that correct procedures for impact monitoring are followed.
6. Take part in/conduct workshops and training within and outside the organisation as may be required
Communication and visibility
1. Act as the communication and visibility focal point for Uganda, liaise with Regional Office and HQ on communication and visibility.
2. Keep abreast the Communication and visibility plan for Uganda country program and constantly update it
3. Develop human stories and other printed materials to assist the visibility of projects
4. Regularly update the DRC social media webpage.
Reporting Arrangements
The Program Assistant reports to the Head of Programs and work in close collaboration wth the M&E Officer.
Personal Specifications
Essential:
• Postgraduate in international development and/or humanitarian action with at least 1 year work experience in the field
• Possess strong analytical and conceptual skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
