The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is the leading international intergovernmental organization dealing with migration. IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide support in the overall implementation of displacement/mobility tracking activities in Uganda.
· Work closely with relevant stakeholders and partners including government authorities, UN agencies and NGOs in the set up and flow of information collected through cross-border South Sudanese migrant flow monitoring activities.
· Regularly liaise and maintain strong partnerships with relevant stakeholders and partners including government authorities, UN agencies and NGOs in ensuring the success of the cross-border flow monitoring activities.
· Act as the main focal point for cross-border flow monitoring activities in Uganda, linking IOM Uganda and IOM South Sudan and establish regular information flow between IOM Uganda and IOM South Sudan.
· Actively contribute to the development of new projects for displacement/mobility tracking in Uganda through identification of project development opportunities.
· Facilitate recruitment of enumerators for snap flow monitoring points in areas of high South Sudanese mobility as identified through community participatory mapping and other sources.
· Focus on flow monitoring data collection and analysis on South Sudanese undocumented migrants in the West Nile District and relevant urban areas in Uganda.
· Send regular updates and analysis on the cross-border flows between South Sudan and Uganda as gathered through quantitative data collected through flow monitoring points and qualitative data gathered through understanding of mobility dynamics as established through focus group discussions and other networks.
· Prepare and deliver project briefings to high level forums, including the humanitarian Interagency Coordination Group.
· Provide support in the publication of regular regional displacement dynamics reports and other regular and ad hoc reports on South Sudanese cross-border mobility.
· Provide regular trainings to build the capacity of local partners and/or local authorities to ensure quality of data and information collected through cross-border flow monitoring activities.
· Regularly travel to the field and South Sudan to monitor, strengthen and provide update on activities as necessary.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate for the International Organization for Migration IOM Senior Project Assistant DTM job placement should hold a university degree from an accredited academic institution in Business Administration, Management, Logistics, Procurement or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
· Seven years (or 5 years’ experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or higher) of progressive responsible experience in project management;
· Previous experience working on migration issues with proven experience in research including data analysis;
· Previous experience working in West Nile is an advantage
· Languages: English (Fluent) and Swahili (Fluent). Knowledge of local languages is advantageous.
