Truck Driver (4 Positions) – Entebbe – International Committee of the Red Cross

About ICRC:
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral and independent international humanitarian organisation, which assists and protects victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence. The ICRC is currently looking for staff for its support operations to South Sudan.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Drives heavy vehicles (Trucks) and light vehicles and transports people and/or material as per instructions. Required to adhere to internal ICRC security and safety rules and regulations.
· The incumbent will loads and unload vehicles as necessary and ensures that the goods are secure.
· The Driver ensures that the cargo loaded is properly delivered as requested and obtains transport documents for all cargo transported.
· In charge of ensuring that cargo on board has all the necessary authorizations and documents available.
· Establishes and communicates through VHF/HF Radio systems as and when required.
· The Driver should respect all the local traffic law and represent ICRC on the road in a proper manner.
· In charge of performing daily vehicle maintenance , its equipment and reports any technical defects to superior.
· Carries out minor repairs and cleanliness of the vehicle assigned.
· Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant must have completed A’ Level (Higher/Advanced Higher Grade exam) or equivalent. Some college coursework completed or an associate degree is an asset. If bus driver, must have a PSV licence.
· Additional vocational training in mechanics or other relevant field
· At least three to five years’ driving experience with relevant driving licence for heavy vehicles (Trucks).
· Conversational English and Swahili
· Intermediate level in computer skills an asset
· Masters 4×4 driving
· VHF Radio system use and basic mechanical skills
