Community Development Facilitator – Sponsorship – Food for the Hungry (FH/U)

Job Summary:
The Community Development Facilitator – Sponsorship will mainly plan and implement CFCT sector Educational and Sponsorship which are designed to develop social skills of groups of children within a particular community; including being involved in spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical development of the children and the community as a whole.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Implementation of Educational program activities
· Together with the parents, guardian, head teachers, teachers and school management committee provide individual or group directives, guidance and supervision of children in their academic performance at school.
· Conduct school verification of every child three times a year, with the aim of understanding the child, their family situation, and helping sponsorship program assist them in any way possible
· Assist children in the program in the development of their learning attitude and other essential life skills.
· Help organize supplemental learning and other activities and Identify vocational training opportunities for children that need them.
· Plan and conduct annual health checkups for the children, provide training and coaching to children in educational related issues.
· Ensure that all sponsorship children in the assigned community access medical services when needed.
· Carry out sensitization for parents on home improvement programs like sanitation, nutrition and disease prevention.
Sponsor-child communication
· Develops relationships with those sponsored and the leadership of the community to ensure an effective link between the sponsored and their sponsors.
· Collect information of those being enrolled for sponsorship (i.e. case histories, photos, etc) meeting deadlines provided and following sponsorship guidelines and policies.
· Manage correspondence flow between sponsors/those sponsored (deliver and collect correspondences and other pieces of communication) in the community in a timely manner.
· Ensures content quality according to sponsorship guidelines for all correspondence coming from a sponsored individual.
· Keeps each child Sponsored individual’s file updated per the sponsorship guidelines (i.e. photos, case history, intro letter, signed agreement, etc.)
Gender and protection, environment & Biblical worldview related activities
· Organize clubs that provide children with life skills.
· Advocate for children’s rights and child protection
· Equip the church to model and teach God’s truth in his word the Bible.
· Teach Biblical values in the communities to counter react the challenges in the communities.
· Equip the leaders to fulfill their God given roles and better meet the needs of their community children.
· Model and teach servant leadership and stewardship of the resources in the community
· Train and model leaders on Biblical peacemaking, healthy relationships and conflict resolution.
· Provide spiritual guidance by sharing the Gospel with parents and their children, including helping with Sunday school teaching and sharing at community gatherings.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Education, Social work, Community development, Development studies or another approved field of study from a recognized university. A higher diploma with Child development bias is added advantage.
· At least four (4) years practical field experience working with communities and children in holistic, Social and, Development environment.
· Knowledge in Sponsorship, income generating activities and VSLA is desirable.
· Experience in teaching /training adult learners.
· Experience in the principles and operations associated with Children and management of Child protection issues is a plus
· A minimum of Four (4) years’ practical field experience working in communities with agricultural and livelihoods practices and experience. Previous work in a refugee context is an added advantage.
· Language Skills: Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Knowledge of the local language is a must

· Working knowledge of implementing multi-sectoral developmental projects
· Demonstrated interpersonal and mobilization skills and proactive problem-solving skills.
· Ability to instruct and work with children, families, volunteers and community leaders
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to interpret sponsor written documents
· Knowledge and sensitivity to gender equality, ethnic minority issues in confidential situations
· Good computer skills with MS office and proven documentation and report writing skills
· Ability to learn new concepts/ideas and willingness to work and live in a rural community environment
· A valid motorcycle riding permit, including the ability to ride and care for a motorcycle.
