JOB OVERVIEW/SUMMARY
The Database & Reporting Officer (D&RO) will be responsible for the development, performance, integrity and security of the Women’s Protection and Empowerment program database. D&RO is expected to perform all database related work including; data entry, database management, and reporting under the supervision of the WPE Deputy Manager in Omugo
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities to ensure program activities are being implemented as planned and the appropriate data is being collected to measure program impact.
In collaboration with the WPE Deputy Manager and Coordinator, develop M&E plans at the outset of new projects and as part of proposal development.
Oversee data collection through GBV Information Management System (GBVIMS) and activity M&E tools and systems.
Ensure forms, databases, and record keeping comply with international and IRC standards of working with GBV survivors and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
Enter all client, activity and program related data in a timely and accurate manner.
Generate reports on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis (Statistical & Graphical) only using non‐identifiable information.
Modify existing data tracking sheets and databases according to requirements as led by the WPE Deputy Manager and Coordinator.
Plan, coordinate, and implement database security measures to safeguard information computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
Develop and deliver trainings for WPE staff on numerous database and reporting topics.
Develop and control user access permissions for each database according to program management specifications.
Ensure that storage, archiving, back‐up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly.
Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development.
Attend WPE and IRC meetings and trainings as needed and as requested by the WPE Deputy Manager and WPE Manager
Confidentiality:
· Ensuring the non-disclosure of any information whatsoever relating to the practices and business of IRC acquired in the course of duty, to any other person or organization without authority, except in the normal execution of duty.
Note: – The role of the Database and Reporting Officer cannot be limited to the specific duties and tasks detailed herein. The success of the IRC’s humanitarian mission is the highest priority and all issues which arise must be addressed accordingly. Therefore, S/he will be required to manage all unforeseen issues and circumstances and remain flexible to perform any other duties, as and when required.
REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
· University degree in social sciences, BA Statistics, (i.e. BCS, MIT, M.Sc computer science, gender studies, human rights, etc.).
Experience
· At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role developing and managing databases and conducting statistical analysis and reporting (ideally with non‐profit and/or non‐governmental organizations).
· Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining M&E systems and tools.
· Experience and capacity in conducting field‐level data collection and data analysis.
Skills and Abilities
· Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel, including creating tables and forms, data analysis, using pivot tables, and charting/visualizing data.
· Strong belief in and commitment to human rights and gender equality.
· Excellent communication and analytical skills and ability to present ideas effectively, in both oral and written form.
· Ability to communicate sensitively and without judgment; good diplomatic and persuasion skills.
· Ability to use good judgment when making decisions and to take accountability for decisions made.
· Emotional maturity and stability to resolve conflicts in non‐violent way and maintain appropriate boundaries.
· Good interpersonal skills including ability to gain trust and build relationships.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self‐initiative and problem solving abilities.
· High standard of spoken and written English.
· Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
· Be able to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing environments.
