About Trachoma Project:
CCP is working with the Carter Center and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) partners on the Trust Trachoma Project to revise content and illustrations on existing VHT cards. The VHT cards will be reorganized into flip chart format which will be used to facilitate community education activities promoting Trachoma prevention and hand washing by WASH partners in Busoga and Karamoja regions of Uganda. Illustrations will be adapted to the social context of the target communities in Busoga and Karamoja.

Job Summary: The Illustrator / Graphic Designer will support for The Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) in the revision of two sets of VHT cards into community education flipcharts on Trachoma prevention.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Specifically, the illustrator/graphic designer will:
Review the two sets of VHT cards—one for Karamoja and the other for Busoga–and other relevant documents to be given by client.
Actively participate in a half day meeting with CCP staff and partners to discuss task related issues.
Revise the two sets of VHT cards into flip charts based on given recommendations regarding content, illustrations/graphics.
Participate in a half day meeting to review the flip charts with CCP staff and partners after they have been pretested in Karamoja and Busoga.
Submit the revised flipcharts to CCP and participate in a review meeting with partners.
Revise the flip charts to finalize the flipcharts.
Submit final acceptable print-ready soft and hard copies to CCP.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should at least hold a Diploma in graphics design or bachelor’s degree in art, specializing in graphic design.
A minimum of five years’ experience in graphic design and illustration.
Previous exposure and experience illustrating health communication materials for community education in Uganda.
Ability to mimic the illustration style of the existing VHT cards so all illustrations have the same style and look.
Remuneration: CCP will pay a daily rate commensurate with past income history. The duration of the task will not exceed 14 days. All other expenses will associated with the scope of work be the responsibility of the consultant. This assignment will take place between February 2016 and April 10th 2016.
