IT Business Analyst / Systems Analyst – dfcu Bank – Kampala

JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Lead Systems Architect, the role holder will act as the key interface between the Business Analysts and the Project Manager and Development Team. The IT Business Analyst / Systems Analyst will be tasked with performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes, and designing the system flow and thereby creating the blueprints used by the developers.
The IT Business Analyst / Systems Analyst shall also ensure that any software developed conforms to the bank’s Software Development Standards by conducting system reviews and documenting reference manuals.
LOCATION: Kampala

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Analyze impact of proposed solutions across the Business, develop user cases, functional specifications and other design documents aimed at explaining/demonstrating Business requirements/specifications to the development team (software developers and testers), and contribute a Business or Process perspective during system design reviews.
• Verify that the System Integration test checklists are properly documented, complete and comprehensive.
• Provide and/or create relevant test scenarios to be used in the System Integration testing process to establish alignment with the approved design.
• Participate in the Software Development processes by prototyping new application requirements and process designs.
• Participate in technical improvements of existing Business applications and processes by identifying opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Liaise with the Testers and Quality Assurance Leads to conclusively carry out tests and sign off results.
• Prepare system documentation to provide technical support for programs and for production/operating procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• A University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related areas.
• Demonstrable experience of at least 4 years in full lifecycle software and product development. Full lifecycle refers to the ideation to production end-to-end process.
• Knowledge of and experience with at least two software prototyping languages such as Java, Python or C#.
• Working knowledge of both relational and non-relational database design.
• User interface design and visualization skills using modern design tools such as MS Visio, Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD and Balsamiq.
• Business process analysis, mapping and design skills using modern design tools such as Bizagi Modeler, MS Visio, Lucid Chart and Nintex.
• Experience with collaboration software systems/packages such as MS SharePoint, Teams and Slack.
• Experience in writing technical system documentation such as user manuals for both admin and end-user audiences is a must.
• Ability to perform technical assessment of management information systems (review of needs, data quality and data security).
• Project management skills are an added advantage.
• Strong analytical skills and a very high level of attention to detail.
• A track record of problem-solving skills in IT related projects is required.
• Excellent communication and engagement skills.
• Strong sense of responsibility, commitment, and drive to consistently lead high quality standards of work.
• Strong understanding of banking operations, FinTech, and product development trends.
• Familiarity with the financial services industry in Uganda.
• Strong understanding and experience in digital banking services.
• Ability to manage cooperation with third-party vendors.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, with a sense of urgency, positive attitude, and the ability to excel in a high-pressure environment.
• Open and collaborative style; must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are shared and challenged.
• High-level of integrity and strong entrepreneurial skills.
• Self-drive and initiative.
