Job Summary:
The IT Network Administrator will mainly design, install and maintain an up to date UNOC Computer Network, by identifying and Implementing Network requirements, installing Upgrades, Monitoring Network performance, and troubleshooting any failures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
IT Network administrator will configure and deploy network devices including routers, switches, Servers, Computers, Desk phones and Wi-Fi access points among others.
Maintain availability of all UNOC network services with interface with the systems administrator.
The position will also ensure security of network services by ensuring secure configuration of the network devices and services, while working closely or as part of the core security team
Monitor network performance, maintaining acceptable levels of availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency, ensuring network vulnerabilities and exposures are promptly identified and adequately addressed, and continuous Improvements to the network is done.
Troubleshoot any network failures to resolution, ensuring downtimes if not preventable, are short, document root causes and prevent recurrence.
Maintenance of existing hardware and software inventories especially for Networking devices.
Provide 2nd line support to service desk team and all other IT services including but not limited to Asset Management, printer management, conference call management & Support, desktop and Mobile Device
Support Project Managers to disseminate and coordinate project tasks as part of IT or UNOC-wide projects, ensuring assigned project tasks are delivered to deadline as and when required.
Deliver, support or perform any other tasks that the Line Manager deems critical to providing UNOC operations with a robust, consistent IT service.
With their day to day view of the latest industry patterns, the Network Administrator will be best placed to bring new ideas, innovation and processes to help the team perform better

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant for the Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) IT Network Administrator job placement must hold a university degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or any other relevant subject, from a recognized University
Must be at least CCNA Routing/Switching qualified or higher, with appropriate demonstrable practical experience.
Excellent knowledge and experience in network administration, including LAN/WAN, Cabling, Wireless networking, Operating systems, cloud computing, email, Corporate printing, telephony and mobile device technologies.
A minimum of five years of relevant experience in designing, implementing and managing networks in a busy environment that is highly dependent on network services.
Must have hands-on experience in cisco routing protocols, router/switch configurations, network performance monitoring and troubleshooting
Knowledge of network security and technologies is required
Excellent communication and documentation skills and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
