About US:
The Embassy of Sweden in Kampala has a broad mandate to promote Swedish-Ugandan relations through political dialogue, development cooperation, trade and investment, cultural exchange and through service to Swedish and foreign citizens with issues related to Swedish authorities. Sweden is strengthening its engagement with Uganda in the area of trade and investment, and has embarked on a new programming period of its bilateral development cooperation.

Job Summary: The Trade Promotion and Information Officer will support the Embassy of Sweden in its mandate of promoting relationships between Uganda and Sweden through trade and investment, development cooperation, cultural exchange, political dialogue and service to Swedish and foreign citizens.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning, implementation and follow up of events and activities that promote trade and investments between Uganda and Sweden Guidance to Swedish businesses on Ugandan laws, rules and practices for starting and running businesses, how to trade with and invest in Uganda;
Tasked with planning, implementation and follow up of activities to strengthen the image of Sweden, Swedish core values, ideas and culture in Uganda, and for inquiries about Sweden in Uganda;
In charge of informing relevant stakeholders about activities and events that the Embassy is engaged in through local media, the Embassy webpage and social media
Tasked with building a network with key media houses, and serving as a focal point for the Embassy press and media events.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Swedish Embassy Trade Promotion and Information Officer job vacancy must hold a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, public relations, communications, political science or related field;
A minimum of five years of relevant experience from work with the private sector in Uganda, either from a business perspective or from an organisation working with private sector related issues;
Previous exposure and experience in developing communication strategies including use of online, print and social media channels;
Strong analytical capacity with critical attention to detail;
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with experience of working in a multi-cultural environment,
Ability to adhere to rules and regulations of the Embassy of Sweden;
Previous experience from the private sector in East Africa or Sweden will be an added advantage.
