Kyambogo University is the second largest Public University in Uganda. Job Summary: The Academic Registrar will support the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) in the administration and organization of Undergraduate studies, Post graduate studies, examinations, research and Publications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will plan and coordinate curriculum development for all programmes and courses taught at the university.
Manage the implementation of regulations governing students admission requirements for all programmes, ensuring that all students admitted to the various courses in the University have the required qualifications.
Oversee the implementation of all academic policies and procedure approved by Council.
Direct the safe custody of all documents and data relating to admissions, examinations and academic results.
Manage the preparation of timetables for teaching and examinations in different Faculties.
Manage the timely preparation and setting of examinations.
Direct compliance with approved schedules for setting and marking examinations and release of result.
Coordinate the marking of examinations and making arrangements to source for external examiners.
Oversee mechanism to ensure that there is no examination leakages of malpractices.
Coordinate and ensure that the senate approves all results before they are released.
Update and maintain a data bank of all results for the University students
Organize and coordinate the University Alumni.
Provide Secretariat services to the Senate.
Organize and coordinate graduation ceremonies graduate, Undergraduate and Certificate students.
Appraise performance of staff in the department.
Regularly monitor and advise the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) in cases of academic impropriety that may include fraud, dishonorable or scandalous cases for action by the Senate.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Education or Education Planning and Management, Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Management Studies or Organizational Psychology from a recognized Institution.
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts with Education or Science with Education from a recognized Institution or first degree with Post Graduate Diploma in Education.
A PhD in a relevant field in education is an added advantage
A minimum of ten (10) years’ working experience, five of which should be at Senior Management Level in University Administration.
High degree of integrity and good managerial skills.
Strong leadership and Communication skills.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Age: Between 40 – 55 years
