Dean of Students – Jinja – Nile Vocational Institute

About US:
Nile Vocational Institute (NVI) was established by African Evangelistic Enterprise – Uganda in 1988 in partnership with Kindernothilfe, a German childcare organization to offer Vocational skills training to the vulnerable youth in the country. This establishment was as an aftermath of the rising number of orphaned children due to the HIV/Aids scourge, and the civil war that the country had undergone. It was recently accredited by National Council for Higher Education.

Job Summary: The Dean of Students will be in charge of general students’ welfare i.e. health, accommodation, meals, discipline, leadership, communal work, extra-curricular activities, among others.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that the general students’ welfare is ideal for their good academic performance.
Provide strategic and operational direction to the department of students’ affairs.
Ensure that the institute rules and regulations (discipline code) is properly understood by all and implemented.
Manage students’ personal files.
The jobholder will coordinate extra-curricular activities and ensure fair competition at color levels
Plan for and ensure effective counselling for students.
Provide guidance for students’ politics among others.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education/ Adult and Community Education or in any relevant field obtained from a recognized University..
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A minimum of three years of working experience in a tertiary institution, at least one of which should be at managerial level.
An admirable character, professionalism, strategic leadership and should be able to work under minimum supervision and for longer hours.
Highly innovative and creative skills that do not only enable the students to perform well in academics but also create a conducive atmosphere for learning and harmony between the students and staff.
Properly married.
Mature born-again Christians and demonstrate an uncompromised Christian witness and commitment.
Age: Between 28- 45 years
