Job Summary: The Education Coordinator, ALP works with the line manager to support ALP field teams in coordinating and implementing of Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) activities across the 3 South Sudanese response sites in Arua, Adjumani and Kiryandongo. ALP is an initiative to meet the education gaps and to complement the ongoing government UPE program for school dropouts and out of school children in the response and host communities. ALP provides the conflict and poverty affected children with real opportunities to join and or/re-join and complete the formal education system or to access relevant vocational skills training. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring programme implementation, initiating and participating in education-focused studies, documentation and dissemination of innovations and good practices. The Education Coordinator, ALP will also contribute to policy research and advocacy on education through networking and collaboration with relevant civil society organisations, implementing partners and other institutions; playing a big role in establishing, maintaining and quality programming in the respective thematic area. The jobholder will also be responsible for monitoring project interventions and following up implementation of the accountability framework. The job holder is also responsible for working with the partner and providing technical support to the partner staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Save the Children Education Coordinator, ALP job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education preferably in Teacher education. Additional qualifications in Teacher Education will be an added advantage.
A minimum of four years of post-qualification working experience in planning and implementing Education programmes with INGOs with at least two years of teaching experience in primary schools or as a Tutor in Primary Teachers’ College.
Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
Excellent time management and planning capacity.
Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
Prior exposure and experience of working with the Local Government, and local partners with focus on improving the learning environments is an added advantage.
Proven ability to speak local the language and directly interact with target group will be an added advantage
Willingness to be based in the field and to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
