About GISU:
Galaxy International School Uganda (GISU) is a co-educational school which provides international education to students between 2 and 19 years of age. From kindergarten to year 13 students are taught using student-centred methods. Emphasis is on the development of the whole person. Students in years 10 and 11 are prepared for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination and those in years 12 and 13 are prepared for Cambridge A level examination. These examinations administered by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) are recognised worldwide. The school is privately owned with a Board of Governors and the day to day running of the school is managed by the Principal. The school is staffed with qualified and experienced staff from UK, USA, Canada, Turkey and East Africa.

Job Summary: The Mathematics Teacher will support each pupil develop competence in basic mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics. The Galaxy International School (GISU) Mathematics Teacher will motivate each pupil to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of practical problems. The incumbent will encourage pupils to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Teaches courses in mathematics to secondary pupils, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
· Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids.
· Demonstrates mathematical concepts using models, other available technology methods and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
· Provides opportunities when needed for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
· The incumbent designs learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world.
· Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
· Evaluates each pupil’s progress in mathematical knowledge and skills.
· Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
· Performs other duties as many, from time to time be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal applicants should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a minor or major in Mathematics from a recognized University.
· At least a year of relevant experience.
· Fully qualified teacher status.
