Senior Lecturer – Soroti University – Kampala

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To conduct high-quality research and teach undergraduate, postgraduate and research students as appropriate.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
1. Masters of Business Administration or Master of Science Degree and PhD in Accounting or Accounting and Finance or related field from a recognized Institution/ University.
2. Bachelors’ Degree with at least Second-Class Honours Upper Division in Commerce (Accounting option), Business Administration (Accounting option), Bachelor of Science (Accounting option) from a recognized Institution/University.
3. Should have full professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA or CIMA.
4. Membership of a recognised professional accounting body like the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) or equivalent.
5. Should have at least 5 new publications in the area of specialization for first track with one year’s experience or three (3) new publications in the area of specialization for ordinary track with 3 years’ teaching experience at the level of Assistant Lecturer gained from a recognized institution of higher learning.
6. Should have supervised at least one (1) graduate student to completion since last promotion.
7. Has excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills.
8. Should be computer literate.
9. ) Has the ability to work in a team and create network with colleagues.
10. Should have a good track record of service to the public.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To prepare and conduct lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students using innovative approaches which include e-learning.
2. To guide and advise students on their academic performance and attending to their queries on academic issues.
3. To conduct research in areas of specialization among the communities and disseminate the research findings.
4. To supervise and mentor undergraduate students undertaking research projects.
5. To organize, attend and conduct seminars and relevant training.
6. To set tests, examinations and course work according to University standards and policies.
7. To mark tests and examinations scripts and compile results according to approved grading standards of the University.
8. To contribute to the University and wider society through community service.

1. Lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students conducted.
2. Students guided and advised on their academic performance.
3. Research in areas of specialization among the communities and conducted and disseminated.
4. Students undertaking research supervised and mentored.
5. Seminars and relevant training organized, conducted and attended.
6. Tests, examinations and course works set.
7. Tests and examinations scripts marked and results compiled.
8. Community service to the University and wider society carried out
