Job Summary: The Senior Officer, Education will take responsibility for planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Northern Uganda Basic Education (NUBE) Project to improve children’s learning outcomes and development through implementation of the QLE Framework. The QLE Framework has 4 pillars: Guiding Principle 1 – emotional and psychological needs of all learners; Guiding Principle 2 – learning environment must protect children’s physical well-being; Guiding Principle 3 – learning environment encourages and supports active engagements for learners, child-centered teaching and improved learning outcomes for all learners; Guiding Principle 4 – parents and local communities are actively involved in planning, decision making and action to improve education. The job holder may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidates for the 3 Save the Children Senior Officer, Education (NUBE Project) jobs should hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Humanities or a relevant discipline. Additional or post graduate qualification in Early Childhood Care and Development, and Basic Education is an added advantage
· A minimum of three years of progressive working experience in planning and implementing Education programs with INGOs with at least two years of teaching experience in primary schools.
· Previous experience of working with the Local Government and local partners with focus on improving the learning environments is an added advantage.
· Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
· Past exposure and experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.
· Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
· Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
· Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
· Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
· Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
· Excellent time management and planning capacity.
· Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
· Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
