Senior Construction Engineer/Project Coordinator – Rural Electrification Agency (REA) – Kampala

Job Summary:
The Senior Construction Engineer/Project Coordinator will support the technical teams execute their functions efficiently and effectively. The coordinator shall be the contract manager. The coordinator shall monitor the project execution progress to ensure delivery of a quality project within the specified timeframe and available resources while emphasizing stakeholder involvement and participation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Contract management.
Prepare periodic reports (as required) for internal and external key stakeholders.
Represent the Agency in Management of rural electrification projects
Project Monitoring, Control and quality management. Facilitate commissioning and handover of completed distribution networks
Provide technical support to the project management team and coordinating the deliverables of the consultant and contractor to ensure all activities are harmonized.
Development and maintenance of an effective monitoring and reporting environment that facilitates the achievement of the Project’s goals and objectives.
Ensure that Monitoring Reports, Correspondences, Progress reports, Minutes of meetings and all key deliverables from field teams are prepared, produced and submitted within the agreed format and timeframe to the required.
Monitor environmental and social compliance
Undertake Engineering Design Review, project development and Procurement assistance.
Review payment certificates and consultancy fee notes and invoices
Perform any other duties specified by the Head of Department.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Master’s degree in engineering or related field is an added advantage
Project management training will be an added advantage
Specific training and hands on experience in GIS is an added advantage.
Working experience of at least 5 years, with at least 4 years’ experience in electricity construction supervision and project management.
Professional registration will be an added advantage
Experience in power systems operation and maintenance
Knowledge in design of electricity distribution networks.
Well-developed interpersonal, communication and public relations skills.
