Engineer (Several Careers) – Kampala – National Identification and Registration Authority

About US:
The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) was established on the passing of the Uganda Registration of Persons Act, 2015. The Act was made to harmonise and consolidate the law on registration of persons; to provide for registration of individuals and to establish a national identification register. It provides for the mandatory registration of all Ugandan citizens within Uganda and abroad as well as aliens identification cards and for related matters.

Job Summary: The Engineer will offer technical advice in the designs of electrical systems and acquisition of equipment and tools

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent ensures proper day-to-day running of personalization machines
Maintains stock of cache of personalization Machine spares
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of ID card production machines
Maintains a log of any fault events that happen during the personalization process
Manages the maintenance, repairs, replacement and extension of production machinery, equipment and supply of machine spares
The Engineer also plans, develops, publishes and updates standard maintenance manuals and other documentation related to the production process
The incumbent ensures the production quality and costs control
Keenly monitors production, responds to any technical queries and provides support as needed
Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Manager, Data Processing and Production

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) Engineer career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Industrial, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized institution
A minimum of three years’ work experience in a reputable public or private organization
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Good IT literacy and Computer software applications skills
