Local Technical Advisor – Kampala – The Mitchell Group

About USAID MAPD Program:
USAID/Uganda’s Malaria Action Program for Districts (MAPD) is the flagship project for PMI whose sole purpose is malaria control and ultimately malaria elimination in Uganda. MAPD is mandated to prevent malaria-associated morbidity and mortality, through its program activities and hence contribute to the reduction in under-five all-cause mortality rate, as a result of reduced malaria mortality.

Job Summary: The Local Technical Advisor will offer support in conducting a baseline assessment for the Malaria Action Program for Districts (MAPD). The assessment will establish the current status of malaria management practices; in the communities, health facilities and district local governments prior to the implementation of USAID/Uganda’s Malaria Action Program activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Support the Evaluation Advisor and Evaluation Methods Specialist with survey design and implementation to ensure appropriate data requirements are included in the data collection tools
· Offer technical support in the development and review of study methodology to ensure they answer key evaluation questions
· Provide malaria-related technical support in design and implementation of the survey

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The ideal candidate for the Local Technical Advisor vacancy must be expert with a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and/or an MPH
· At least ten years of malaria programming experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
· Skills in Monitoring and Evaluation of Malaria programs specifically listed in the CV.
· A substantive role in a minimum of three studies/evaluations in health systems.
