Job Summary: The Project Engineer will be providing cost effective designs for village-sized piped water schemes. He / she will be performing engineering tasks within the Country Program following established standards and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct engineering tasks including water hydraulic design calculations, and development of plans, specifications, and drawings
Perform routine field inspections and site assessments
Quickly report on various aspects of work as it relates to assessment, design, implementation, or follow-up
Assemble required permits and reports for government agencies
Perform any other duties as requested under the direction of the Senior Engineer
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The possible job suitors must hold Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering – Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical are preferred
Two or more years’ experience in water and/or waste water engineering – consulting engineering with specific design experience is preferred
The incumbent must have the temperament and energy to be a leader in an entrepreneurial environment.
Possess a valid Driver’s license
Advanced skills with computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, EPANET, Google Earth and AutoCAD
Excellent verbal and written communications skills (English & Luo/Luganda/Lusoga)
Excellent analytical skills, process design skills and project planning skills
Good understanding of and commitment to the mission of the organization

Possess the ability to project confidence but be willing to learn new design methods
Ability to work with a team toward common goals, and overcome diverse obstacles
Ability to organize personal work load and achieve results in time
Ability to be on time
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends when necessary
Be a self-starter who problem solves and follows through without prodding but knows when and how to ask for assistance and counsel
