The Government of Uganda established the Financial Intelligence Authority and a Financial Intelligence Authority Board under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2013 is for the prohibition and prevention of money laundering, in order to combat money laundering activities.
Job Summary: The Authority Driver will be in charge of the safe delivery of staff and other authorized passengers to and from their respective destinations and to ensure proper maintenance of Authority vehicles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure basic vehicle maintenance:
Conduct daily checks on vehicles to ensure vehicles are in good working condition; record any problems requiring future action in the vehicle check list.
Carry out minor maintenance (e.g. oil level, radiator water, tyre inflation pressure) before vehicles are driven.
Ensure that vehicles are equipped with all necessary breakdown tools and safety equipment and that such are in full working order.
Report any vehicle problem that needs instant attention.
Ensure that all Authority vehicles are refuelled as and when required (fuel receipts kept) ;
Take vehicles to the garage and draw attention to the necessary repairs or the type of routine maintenance required; receive quotations and check their appropriateness.
Follow-up to ensure that work is done on time; inspect vehicles after repair or maintenance work has been completed to ensure that repairs are completed satisfactorily to the required standard
Ensure safe road transportation and compliance to road signs
Safe driving of staff and other authorised passengers in the vehicle to and from their destination and providing assistance as and when required;
Ensure that the destination, expected timings and any tasks to be accomplished are clear; planning a route that will accomplish all activities in the most cost-effective manner and follow procedures that ensure safe and secure driving.
Abide by the traffic rules and regulations as required by the traffic laws of Uganda;
Pay attention to personal appearance and cleanliness of self and vehicle in order to project a good corporate image
Ensure compliance to health and safety rules.
Be aware of the quality and safety procedures that apply and ensuring that they are implemented
Use of the required vehicle safety equipment at all times (including vehicle seatbelts and fire extinguisher)
Take personal responsibility for ensuring that any equipment being operated and the surrounding work area is clean and tidy at all times
Keep all documents and Driver’s license in place while driving the authority vehicles;
Comply with the Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines of the HR department.
Perform any other assignments as may be required from time to time.
Key Performance Indicators:
Authority’s vehicles are in good condition, mechanically sound and safe to drive.
Passengers and goods safely and securely driven to their destination.
Observation and complying with traffic rules and regulations at all times..
Health and safety procedures followed at all times Follow health and safety procedures at all time.
Good driving experience provided.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) Authority Driver job vacancy should hold an A’ level certificate or its equivalent.
Valid Driving Permit – Class B, DL.
A minimum of five years of proven driving experience in a private or public organisation;
Good driving record with no traffic violations or accidents for at least 5 consecutive years
Knowledge and understanding of the Authority’s vision , mission and objectives
Ability to operate in a variety of weather and traffic conditions;
Must be willing and able to be on stand by and work weekends;
Good driving skills/defensive driving Skills;
Good mechanical Skills ;
Pleasant personality;
Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
Ability to work independently;
Quick decision maker;
Person of high integrity;
Multi-tasker and prioritizing skills are essential;
Time management skills;
Punctual and good attendance record;
Able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
