About CEDP:
The Government of Uganda has received credit from the World Bank towards implementation of the Competitive and Enterprise Development Project (CEDP). The project development objective (PDO) is to improve the competitiveness of enterprises in Uganda through supporting reforms in priority productive and service sectors geared towards a better investment climate with particular focus on MSMEs.

The five-year project comprises of four major components and will be implemented by seven agencies. However, the overall coordination of the Project will lie with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) through a Project Coordination Unit (PCU). The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) will implement Component 2 of CEDP: Business Registration and Business licensing reforms that aims at reducing the burden for businesses in dealing with registration and licenses procedure by creating an online one-stop-shop for business registration and an e-registry for business licensing, and by implementing measures aimed to simplifying and streamlining business registration and business licensing procedures.

Job Summary: The Legal Officer, URSB will provide support for timely implementation of the URSB registration processes in accordance to the laid down principles.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports in the Registration of companies, business names, births, marriages and death, trademarks, copyrights, patents, industrial designs, geographical indications, attending to opposition matters and any documents in the Regions.
Write correspondences and Quality assurance of statutory requirements and issue notices for compliance and enforcement.
Responsible for the assessment of Non Tax Revenue.
Public awareness
Certification and verification of documents.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Senior Registration Officer from time to time. Any other duties assigned by supervisor from time to time.
Key Performance Indicators:
Companies, documents, business names, registered.
Births, marriages and death registered.
Trademarks, copyrights, patents, industrial designs, geographical indications registered.
Returns and all statutory compliance documents filed in time.
Timely response to correspondences
NTR assessed.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess an Honor’s Degree in Law with a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience working in a busy environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluent in both spoken and written English.
Proven integrity and confidentiality in handling public resources and in executing duties
A high level of interpersonal, management skills and ability to work with teams
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
