Aftercare Volunteer – Kampala – International Justice Mission

About Us:
The International Justice Mission is a global organization that protects the poor from violence throughout the developing world. International Justice Mission partners with local authorities to rescue victims of violence, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors, and strengthen justice systems. The International Justice Mission (IJM) Uganda is working to eliminate property grabbing in Uganda by bringing rescue and restoration to individual victims, accountability to their perpetrators, and transformation to the public justice system as a whole.

Job Summary: The Aftercare Volunteer will be responsible for the provision of all aftercare services. Most services are field-based and require travel to and from clients’ homes, schools, and hospitals throughout Mukono District. The Volunteer will work alongside Aftercare specialists to render individual, group, and family therapy as well as case management and linkage coordination. The Volunteer will function as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and makes necessary referrals for community services that clients need.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Support in monitoring IGAs for clients and give an update to the department.
Work closely with the Aftercare Intern and Aftercare Assistant to document aftercare success stories and best practices.
Help Aftercare Team in documenting services that clients have received into a Case Tracking Management System (CTMS).
Support the counseling specialist to organize group therapy meetings.
Carry out “Needs Assessment” for new clients to determine required aftercare services.
Ensure that all caseload files are up to date with all required documentation on CTMS.
Help to identify residential and mental health providers on addressing mental wellbeing of clients.
Support in the development of aftercare sustainability plan.
Support the department to organize meetings and workshops for clients.
Carry out monthly visits/follow ups for clients in the community.
Manage clients food process by ensuring that clients sign when they get food, liaise with the Finance Department on food payment among others.
Liaise with all selected service providers on Aftercare Services.
Work closely with Aftercare Specialist on managing clients housing construction projects.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or comparable field of study.
Excellent critical and analytical thinking, high quality writing skills and flexible.
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
Mature Christian faith as defined by the Apostles’ Creed.
Passionate commitment to IJM’s mission and values.
Professional in demeanor, appearance, writing and oral communication.
Works well under stress with a sustained positive attitude.
Exceptionally high level of honesty and integrity.
Intelligent, organized, creative and proactive problem solver.
Ability to cooperate effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
Fluency in English and Luganda, with excellent writing and speaking in both.
