Area Manager – Bayport Financial Services Uganda Ltd

Job Summary:
The Area Manager will oversee sales and credit activities, planning, direction and management of the sales team in the designated area. Successful candidates will be responsible for formulation and implementation of strategies to meet the performance goals in areas of sales growth, coding, collections, customer service and people management in the regions and branches under their direct control and management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, implement and evaluate strategies to achieve, daily, weekly and monthly sales turnover targets in every branch under the respective area of jurisdiction.
Ensure credit performance efficiency is achieved by leading and championing timely coding and collections efforts and by initiating and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the Business Area.
Identify staffing headcount needs and initiate in coordination with the Human Resources Department the recruitment of Branch Managers and other sales contractors to ensure optimal staffing in line with available budget and organizational priorities.
Coordinate implementation of the branch, and area marketing strategies for Bayport Products in line with set targets and within Bayport Policies.
Monitor the implementation, compliance and effectiveness of set policies, procedures and internal controls in every branch and implement timely incident reporting to determine the level of real or potential operational risks.
Develop and maintain good relationships with various employers and maintain excellent Customer Care standards as per Bayport Uganda Service standards and work values.
Conduct periodic on-site branch and area supervision visits and generate reports in line with the branch operations requirements.
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports to the Country Operations Manager, on the overall Branch, and business area performance and progress on implementation of strategies and action plans.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree with honors from a recognized University.
A minimum of five years of experience in Financial Services Industry, three years of which MUST have been at a Regional Management and Department supervisory level in sales and credit, preferably in Retail Banking, Microfinance, Insurance or Telecommunication
Excellent computer skills
In-depth knowledge of branch and regional management systems and procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication
Ability to formulate branch and regional operational, sales and credit collection strategies.
Ability to exceed management performance objectives expectations and ensure excellent service in all branches and regions within the Area.
Should have an entrepreneurial and commercial mindset.
Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision while meeting and exceeding deadlines and expectations
Willingness to work and travel widely within the Area and in any part of Uganda.
Mature, organized, disciplined, easy to work with and must be a team player.
Must currently be actively employed
