About USAID CHC Project:
Communication for Healthy Communities (CHC) is a five- year program implemented through a cooperative agreement between the United States Agency for International Development USAID/Uganda) and FHI 360. The program supports the Government of Uganda (GOU) and US government (USG) implementing partners to design and implement quality health communication interventions to contribute to reduction in HIV infections, total fertility, maternal and child mortality, malnutrition, malaria & tuberculosis. CHC is implementing HIV prevention interventions under the Determined Resilient Empowered AIDS-Free Mentored Safe (DREAMS) initiative. DREAMS will target Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in the 10 intervention districts: Gulu, Oyam, Lira, Mubende, Mityana, Gomba, Mukono, Bukomansibi, Rakai and Ssembabule. The project will work with GoU and USG service delivery partners to empower AGYW with the right knowledge, motivation, skills, address negative social and gender norms around HIV and pregnancy prevention, and motivate AGYW to seek and utilize available health services. The goal of the project is to reduce HIV incidence by 25% in Year 1 and 40% in Year.

Job Summary: The The DREAMS Communication Officer will directly support the DREAMS Project Coordinator to rollout targeted social and behavior change communication interventions for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), through youth friendly mass media and interpersonal and community communication aimed at increasing knowledge and uptake of health behaviors to prevent HIV infection.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Offer technical support to the DREAMS Coordinator to design, implement, monitor and evaluate the DREAMS communication interventions
Provide support to the process of formative research, design, development, materials development and message testing with target audiences
Oversee the planning and execution of interpersonal communication (IPC) activifies including; orientation of youth friendly campaign champions,
Work with service provider partners to conduct youth friendly community based demand generation activities such as flash mobs, street bashes, market-day activations and school bashes.
Carry out on-going monitoring and documentation of campaign activities including: success stories, activity reports and quarterly reports
Manage the dissemination campaign materials to key partners, health centers and other youth corners in the districts.
Represent CHC through participation, facilitation, and work presentation at all partner meetings in the districts
Perform any other duties as assigned by the DREAMS Coordinator.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the USAID FHI360 Project Coordinator career should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Communication
At least three to five years’ experience in health communication
Significant experience in HIV/AIDS communication and community- mobilization activities
Prior exposure and experience working with different partners, service providers, districts and community based organizations
Exhibit commitment and passion for adolescent and young women’s sexual reproductive health, and HIV prevention
Ability to adapt and work in challenging and demanding environments
Ability to work independently and manage a high volume work flow
